Get Directory Navigator HERE for free! About Directory Navigator QuickStudy: What Directory Navigator WILL do... Directory Navigator is a small program that helps you build, sort and maintain lists of directories. (The list included with this small application presently has over 1200 directories) It also helps speed up the submitting process. Since the implementation of CAPCHA, automatic submitter programs have basically been a thing of the past because software can not reliably decipher the letters in those messed up images that often leave humans guessing. Directory Navigator takes you thru a list of directories, one by one. After you see what kind of directory it is, being a FREE, RECIPROCAL or a PAY directory, you can mark that directory appropriately so you will know its type the next time you're ready to submit for a different website. You may also designate it as being DONE or one that you have to follow up on (for example, click to verify email or just to know to go back to be sure a link is placed for whatever reason) by marking it as VERIFY. The only way Directory Navigator interfaces with your browser is by pulling up the directory that's in the queue. It will use your default browser or program that's associated with the file. It's important to understand that the address that's in the queue can be different than the directory that's in your browser. The address that's in the queue window will be the one that's marked when you designate it as being DONE, VERIFY, FREE, RECIPROCAL or PAY. As you move through the directories and mark their status and type, Directory Navigator creates text files that you can print off if you want so you will have a physical visual reference. These files include directories that have been marked done, free, reciprocal, pay, etc. It will pull them up in your default text program so you can look at them quickly if you want. The Default Profile will work fine if you have only one site to submit, but if you have several sites, you may create a profile for each site. Directory Navigator will then keep track of what's been done in each profile, separately. You may switch between profiles quickly on the fly making it easy to submit and keep track of several sites simultaneously. After you've sorted your list of directories you may then work with one particular group being it FREE, RECIPROCAL, OR PAY. This makes it easy to concentrate on only one group or knock off the free directories first, then go back for the reciprocal or pay directories. Unless you're a lightning quick typer or just like typing, you will need a good form filler or clipboard program to make this tool worth using. I would recommend using InFormEnter with Firefox. If you use Firefox, each url you open will open in a new tab. You can open and submit to as many urls (tabs) you can keep track of at a time, but be warned: This is a good time to be aware of which directory is in the queue, and which is in the browser tab because it's the directory in the queue that will be considered when you mark the type or status. This is the fastest way I've found to submit but you have to be careful when you have several tabs open. What Directory Navigator WON'T do... It won't install dozens of supporting libraries or take up dozens of megabytes on your computer. In fact, it won't take up one (the application is under 200KB). It won't mess with your registry or need to be installed. Just store it in its own folder anywhere on your computer and create a shortcut for it. It won't reference other sites checking for registration verification or keep track of your navigation history. Some of the other programs do this and it causes slow navigation and page loads. It won't autofill. This too causes problems in other submitting programs. Using Directory Navigator along with a clipboard program or the InFormEnter extension for Firefox is much faster, more accurate and will leave you with no typing to do at all. Buttons and Controls:(Top Left to Bottom Right)
(Top Row) Back : Moves backwards in the list of directories and queues up the previous directory in the list. Directory Index Indicator: This box gives you a reference number to where you are in the list of directories. The numbers and directories are not linked. That is to say, if you add or remove directories, Some directories will get a different number. The list is sorted alphabetically. Directory Queue: This box displays the directory currently loaded in the queue. The information to the right corresponds with this directory. Type Box: This box indicates what type of directory is queued. All directories start out as Unmarked by default. As you sort your list, you may mark these directories appropriately with the Type dropdown box that's immediately underneath. After the type is marked, all directories of the same type may be loaded by the Load Type Dropdown. Status Box: This box displays the status of the directory that's displayed in the queue. All directories are marked Not Done by default. As you submit to each directory, you may mark them as being done so you know which ones you have and have not submitted to. The status Verify is meant to designate directories that requires clicking a link to verify your submission, or other directories that for some reason need to be followed up on. Profile Jump Box: Use this box to change from one profile to the next. When you load a different directory all of the information displayed in the other boxes will be for this profile. The list of directories are common to all profiles. If you mark one as being free, it will show as free in every profile. However, the status box will reflect information regarding the profile that's displayed in this box. (2nd Row) Next: Moves forward in the list of directories and queues up the next directory in the list. Directory Index Jump Box: Use this box to skip over many directories to load one that would require too many clicks of the back or next button to get to. Directory URL Jump Box: This does the same thing as the box described above only the drop down list will have the address instaed of a number. Type Dropdown: Use this dropdown box to mark the Type of directory that's currently in the Directory Queue Indicator Box. Choices are Free, Reciprocal, and Pay. Status Dropdown: Use this dropdown box to mark the Status of directory that's currently in the Directory Queue Indicator Box. Choices are Done, Verify and Not Done. Not Done simply removes the address from any designated lists. Add Profile Button: This button will add a new profile, and create a sub-directory to store files pertaining to your new profile. (3rd Row) Go Button: Opens up URL in that's in the Queue in your browser. Add Directory Button: This Button will add a directory to the master list. Please start the new directory with http://www. so the list can be properly sorted alphabetically. There is a rudimentary duplication checker but if you enter an address for a specific page, the url will be added regardless of if the basic domain address is in the list or not. You will be given the option to mark the type when you add the address but you can do that at any time. Remove Directory Button: This button will remove the directory shown in the queue from all directory lists. Directory Filter Dropdown: This will load a specific type of directories. Directories must be marked first as being Free, Reciprocal or Pay. This is left up to the end user because directories are known to change frequently and many have a paid option so you can mark it however you want. Remove Profile Button: This will delete a profile, its sub-directory, and files pertaining to the current profile. Load the profile you want to delete then click the remove profile button. (4th Row) Help: You are here. Progress Indicator Box: The box gives you a summary of how many you've marked as Done or Verify for the current profile. View Text Files Button: This will pull up the text file you select in your default text program. Do Not edit these files. These files are used by the program. Editing them outside of Directory Navigator may knock the program out of synchronization.
